Synopsis
Taken in by a kindly couple, a six-inch-tall boy takes on a pair of comical crooks in this adaption of a classic Grimm fairy tale. Oscar and Golden Globe-winner Russ Tamblyn ("Peyton Place") and Oscar-nominee and Golden Globe-winner Peter Sellers ("The Pink Panther") star in this enjoyable fantasy. Terry-Thomas ("It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World") received a British Academy Award nomination for his hilarious performance as a bungling villain. Great Oscar-winning special effects that combine live actors, animation and puppets. Directed by legendary Oscar-honoree George Pal ("Puppetoons" shorts). Featuring songs by Oscar and Emmy-nominee Peggy Lee. Film critic Leonard Maltin writes "Excellent children's picture..." and awards it 3-1/2 stars!

    Comments about Tom Thumb:

Russ Tamblyn owns this movie with an incredibly athletic performance of a naive, cheery youngster in an Oz-inspired medieval city. This is not a PC movie, but very entertaining, and the special effects and comedy routines are great. Not sure if the WA has the same extras as the pressed dvd from 2000: trailer, prduction notes, and both a widescreen and pan/scan versions.
