Synopsis
No matter how fast a gunfighter is, there’s always someone faster. The unnamed stranger called The Cowboy is that someone. Young Guns star Emilio Estevez portrays the mysterious, lightning-fingered loner in this salute to spaghetti Westerns of the ’60s. Inspired by the trend-setting works of Sergio Leone (A Fistful of Dollars) and filmed on sets used by him, Dollar for the Dead knows well the cinematic West that took away white hats and gave everyone a scowl, a two-day beard and a feverish sense of not liking anyone very much. William Forsythe joins Estevez in a bold quest for a secret cache of Confederate gold. Stalked by vigilantes (headed by Howie Long) and by armies from both sides of the Tex-Mex border, the two are wildly outnumbered. But don’t expect The Cowboy – jackrabbit fast, rattlesnake mean and fox clever – ever to be outgunned.
